For subject leaders and teachers in KS2, exploring the key evidence around reading fluency and its application to the teaching of reading both in literacy and across the curriculum. This course is based on our Fluency Focus programme which has been trialled in 30 schools.

Programme Structure

Modules include:

  • Understanding the evidence and principles underpinning how children learn to read.
  • Understanding the link between fluency and reading comprehension..
  • Learning key strategies for developing reading fluency at a vocabulary, sentence and text level.
  • Learning the fundamental sequence and progression of those strategies for maximum impact.
  • Understanding how to apply these strategies to support struggling readers and enable all children to access the curriculum.
